My mom introduced this wonderful hot drink to me when we came (slash) moved in with my parents when quaratine struck. She drinks it every night and for the first few nights, I politely declined.

Until I didnt. It is soooo good. Its a bummer that you actually CAN have too much turmeric or else I would be having a glass in the morning, a glass in the afternoon and 2 in the evening. Ya know, to help me calm down after each hour.

Since we’ve been enjoying every night, I’ve been doing a little research on the “buzz” of this Golden Milk that is all the craze.

Here is what I found:

  • GOLDEN MILK = a traditional Indian drink which contains a NON-dairy milk with turmeric of course, cinnamon, and ginger. (all anti-inflammatory ingredients
  • A person may reduce INFLAMMATION by adding golden milk to their regular diet. For example, a small study of 45 participants showed that consuming 500 milligrams (mg) of curcumin was as effective as taking 50 mg of a common arthritis medication at reducing inflammation. Curcumin is the active component in turmeric. (according to NCBI-US National Library of Medicine…credible source:))
  • the Ginger has been proven to lower blood sugar
  • One review of studies found that curcumin contains antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties that can help a person better fight infections. (courtesy also of NCBI)
  • Aides in digestion (my personal favorite)

I’ve only been taking it for the past 8 days…so i’ll keep you posted on my overall health:) But I feel like these are pretty good facts and hey, it can’t hurt right?

Especially if it tastes like a chai tea.

In my research, I also found there are many ways to make Golden Milk.

They all Require the same ingredients however…they vary on the AMOUNTS.

** Black Pepper is required for absorption of the Turmeric so don’t leave that one out!

**I have also used Maple syrup and date paste for the sweetener.

**Topped with Almond milk whipped topping of course.
