tuesday tip: How to Make School Lunch Sandwich Stackers {using a medicine syringe}.

school lunch stackers

Whether your child is at school in the nearest school building OR at school in your living room; this is healthy, fun twist on a sandwich which makes a cute little stacker your kids will be raving about.

Everything is cuter when its little— RIGHT?? Little kids, little sandwiches, little animals, little chairs, little shoes…well this sandwich is no exception! Its little and its cute AND your kids will eat this little healthy lunch!

ITEMS NEEDED:

  • Plastic Medicine syringe (10 cc syringe or greater)
    • My mother and I are both nurses…which may explain why we have an ample amount of plastic medicine syringes just lying around the drawers. And finally! This is a great use for them! And to make it accessible for this recipe, you will just need a sharp serrated knife or exacto knife to cut the tip off.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED:

  • Sandwich bread
    • We used sandwich thins because they are small and cute:) and because we thought they would be less bread so you can fit more of the substance ingredients in…
  • Deli meat
    • Any meat will work…we like the Columbus brand because it is Nitrate free and one can also buy a low sodium. Which is a plus.
    • Also, double it over a few times so it stays put in the syringe and also is easier to cut out.
  • Cheese
    • Slices of cheese work best as they are easiest to punch out.
    • And as manifested by Jude’s video, he likes many different kinds of cheese
  • Cucumber
    • A cucumber provides a nice crunch to you tiny sandwich stacker.
    • A pickle would also be a nice choice!
  • Avocado
    • Slice the avocado cross wise into discs, then it is easy to punch out!

As long as the sandwich ingredient is soft enough to punch with a medicine syringe–it is a good candidate!

Options are endless really. All you need to know is you must start with a punch of bread, end with a punch of bread and top off with a toothpick in the end. Then punch the sandwich out and you’ve got yourself a School Sandwich Stacker!
